God’s Radiant Beauty 하나님의 찬란한 아름다움 [ Romans 1:18 - 1:25 ] - hymn 79 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made. Romans 1:20 Lord Howe Island is a small paradise of white sands and crystal waters off Australia’s east coast. When I visited some years ago, I was struck by its beauty. Here, one could swim with turtles and with fish like the shimmering trevally, while moon wrasses drifted nearby, flashing their neon colors like a billboard. In its lagoon I found coral reefs full of bright orange clownfish and yellow-striped butterfly fish that rushed to kiss my hand. Overwhelmed by such splendor, I couldn’t help but worship God. The apostle Paul gives the reason for my response. Creation at its best reveals something of God’s nature(Rom. 1:20). The wonders of Lord Howe Island were giving me a glimpse of His own power and beauty. When the prophet Ezekiel encountered God, he was shown a radiant Being seated on a blue throne surrounded by glorious colors(Ezek. 1:25–28). The apostle John saw something similar: God sparkling like precious stones, encircled by an emerald rainbow(Rev. 4:2–3). When God reveals Himself, He is found to be not only good and powerful but beautiful too. Creation reflects this beauty the way a piece of art reflects its artist. Nature often gets worshiped instead of God(Rom. 1:25). What a tragedy. Instead, may earth’s crystal waters and shimmering creatures point us to the one standing behind them who is more powerful and beautiful than anything in this world. Sheridan Voysey [ 로마서 1:18 - 1:25 ] - 찬송가 79 장 창세로부터 그의 보이지 아니하는 것들 곧 그의 영원하신 능력과 신성이 그가 만드신 만물에 분명히 보여 알려졌나니 로마서 1:20 로드호우 섬은 호주의 동쪽 연안에 있는 섬인데, 백사장과 수정 같이 맑은 물이 있는 작은 지상낙원입니다. 몇 년 전 그곳을 방문했을 때, 나는 그 아름다움에 완전히 반했습니다. 거기서는 거북이들과, 또 반짝거리는 전강이 같은 물고기들과 함께 헤엄칠 수 있고, 바로 옆에는 광고판처럼 네온색을 반짝이는 달 놀래기들이 떠 다녔습니다. 석호에 있는 산호초들에는 밝은 오렌지색의 흰동가리와 노란 줄무늬의 나비고기들이 가득하여 마치 내 손에 입 맞추려는 듯 달려들었습니다. 그 놀라운 장관에 감격하여 나는 하나님께 경배하지 않을 수 없었습니다. 내가 그렇게 반응하게 된 이유를 바울 사도가 설명해줍니다. 창조는 그것이 가장 최고조일 때 하나님 속성의 어떤 것을 드러냅니다(롬 1:20). 로드호우 섬의 경이로운 모습은 하나님 그분의 능력과 아름다움을 살짝 보여주었습니다. 에스겔 선지자가 하나님을 뵈었을 때, 영광스러운 광채에 둘러싸여 푸른 보좌에 앉아 계신 사방으로 광채가 나는 존재를 보았습니다(겔 1:25-28). 요한 사도도 그와 비슷하게 녹보석 무지개에 둘러싸여 벽옥과 홍보석 같이 빛나는 하나님을 보았습니다(계 4:2-3). 하나님이 자신을 드러내실 때, 우리는 그분의 선하고 능력 있는 모습뿐 아니라, 아름다운 모습도 함께 보게 됩니다. 예술품이 그 작가를 반영해 보여주는 것과 같은 방식으로 창조물은 이러한 아름다움을 반영해 보여줍니다. 종종 자연이 하나님 대신 경배를 받기도 합니다(롬 1:25). 얼마나 슬픈 일인지요. 그 대신, 지구상의 수정 같은 맑은 물과 반짝이는 생명체들이 우리에게 그것들 뒤에 계시는 한 분, 이 세상 어떤 것보다도 더 능력 있고 아름다운 분을 가리켜주길 바랍니다.

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23. and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. 24. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator -- who is forever praised. Amen. 내 영혼아 여호와를 송축하라 여호와 나의 하나님이여 주는 심히 위대하시며 존귀와 권위로 옷 입으셨나이다 창조 세계의 아름다움은 우리 창조주의 아름다움을 반영해 보여준다. 18. ○하나님의 진노가 불의로 진리를 막는 사람들의 모든 경건하지 않음과 불의에 대하여 하늘로부터 나타나나니 19. 이는 하나님을 알 만한 것이 그들 속에 보임이라 하나님께서 이를 그들에게 보이셨느니라 20. 창세로부터 그의 보이지 아니하는 것들 곧 그의 영원하신 능력과 신성이 그가 만드신 만물에 분명히 보여 알려졌나니 그러므로 그들이 핑계하지 못할지니라 21. 하나님을 알되 하나님을 영화롭게도 아니하며 감사하지도 아니하고 오히려 그 생각이 허망하여지며 미련한 마음이 어두워졌나니 22. 스스로 지혜 있다 하나 어리석게 되어 23. 썩어지지 아니하는 하나님의 영광을 썩어질 사람과 새와 짐승과 기어다니는 동물 모양의 우상으로 바꾸었느니라 24. ○그러므로 하나님께서 그들을 마음의 정욕대로 더러움에 내버려 두사 그들의 몸을 서로 욕되게 하게 하셨으니 25. 이는 그들이 하나님의 진리를 거짓 것으로 바꾸어 피조물을 조물주보다 더 경배하고 섬김이라 주는 곧 영원히 찬송할 이시로다 아멘
