Joy 기쁨 [ Psalms 92 ] - hymn 191 I sing for joy at what your hands have done. Psalm 92:4 I’m fast approaching a new season—the “winter” of old age—but I’m not there yet. Even though the years are galloping by and sometimes I’d like to slow them down, I have joy that sustains me. Each day is a new day given me by the Lord. With the psalmist, I can say, “It is good to praise the Lord . . . proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night”!(Psalm 92:1–2). Even though my life has its struggles and the pain and difficulties of others sometimes overwhelms me, God enables me to join the psalmist in “[singing] for joy at what [His] hands have done”(v. 4). Joy for blessings given: family, friends, and satisfying work. Joy because of God’s wondrous creation and His inspired Word. Joy because Jesus loved us so much He died for our sins. And joy because He gave us the Spirit, the source of true joy(Romans 15:13). Because of the Lord, believers in Him can “flourish like a palm tree . . . [and] still bear fruit in old age”(Psalm 92:12–14). What fruit is that? No matter our circumstances or season of life, we can be examples of His love through the life we lead and the words we say. There is joy in knowing and living for the Lord and telling others about Him. Alyson Kieda [ 시편 92 ] - 찬송가 191 장 주의 손이 행하신 일로 말미암아 내가 높이 외치리이다 시편 92:4 나는 노년의 ‘겨울’이라는 새로운 계절로 빠르게 다가가고 있지만, 아직 거기에 도달한 것은 아닙니다. 비록 세월이 온 힘을 다해 달려가고 있고 그래서 때로는 그 흐름을 늦추고 싶지만, 나에게는 나 자신을 지탱해주는 기쁨이 있습니다. 하루하루는 주님께서 내게 주시는 새로운 날입니다. 시편기자처럼, 나도 “주의 이름을 찬양하고 아침마다 주의 인자하심을 알리며 밤마다 주의 성실하심을 베풂이 좋으니이다”(시 92:1-2)라고 말할 수 있습니다. 비록 내 삶에도 힘든 일들이 있고 때로는 다른 이들의 고통과 어려움이 나를 짓누르기도 하지만, 하나님은 내 마음을 “[주께서] 행하신 일로 나를 기쁘게 하셨으니 내가 주의 일로 기뻐[합니다]”(4절, 현대인의 성경)라고 한 시편기자와 같게 해주십니다. 가족이나 친구, 그리고 만족스러운 직업 같이 받은 축복으로 인한 기쁨. 하나님의 놀라운 창조와 그분의 영감의 말씀이 주는 기쁨. 우리를 너무 사랑하셔서 우리 죄를 위해 돌아가신 예수님으로 인한 기쁨. 그리고 주님이 우리에게 참 기쁨의 ‘근원’이신 성령님을 주신 것으로 인한 기쁨(롬 15:13). 주님 때문에, 주님을 믿는 자들은 “종려나무 같이 번성하며…늙어도 여전히 결실하게”(시 92:12-14) 될 것입니다. 그것이 어떤 열매일까요? 우리의 상황이나 인생의 계절과 무관하게, 우리는 삶과 말을 통해서 주님의 사랑의 본이 될 수 있습니다. 주님을 알고 주님을 위해 살면서 다른 이들에게 주님을 알릴 때 그 속에 기쁨이 있습니다.

It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, 2. to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, 3. to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp. 4. For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands. 5. How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts! 6. The senseless man does not know, fools do not understand, 7. that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed. 8. But you, O LORD, are exalted forever. 9. For surely your enemies, O LORD, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered. 10. You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured upon me. 11. My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries; my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes. 12. The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; 13. planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. 14.
