03 August Tue, 2010 The Sin Virus [ Romans 6:14 - 6:23 ] - hymn193 Having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. — Romans 6:18 The H1N1 pandemic focused the world’s attention on viruses. Viruses are living organisms that need a host to survive and wreak their havoc. In some cases, a virus can be present for many years before the host is even aware of it. During that time, the virus can inflict widespread and untold damage. Take it away from the host, and it remains dormant or dies. In a similar way, sin needs a host to stay alive. By themselves, sins such as pride, greed, anger, and selfishness are mere words. But when sin overpowers a human host, it works to destroy it for as long as the host is alive. Thankfully, because of Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross, Christians have been positionally “set free from sin” (Rom. 6:18). Even though we still sin, the Holy Spirit who lives in us helps us to resist that “sin virus,” the lust of the flesh (Gal. 5:16). The apostle John tells us: “Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them” (1 John 3:9 NLT). Now we walk in dependence upon the Spirit, and one day we will stand “faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy” (Jude 24). Isn’t that a great comfort for you as you step out today into a world infected by the “virus” of sin?     The Great Physician holds the cure That kills the virus of our sin; It’s by His own atoning blood That we’re made whole and pure within. —D. De Haan Sin is the disease, Christ is the cure. Romans 6:14-23 [14] For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. [15] What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! [16] Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? [17] But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. [18] And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. [19] I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness. [20] For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. [21] What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. [22] But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. [23] For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

2010년 08월 03일 (화) 죄 바이러스 [ 로마서 6:14 - 6:23 ] - 찬송가 193장 죄에게서 해방되어 의에게 종이 되었느니라－로마서 6:18 신종플루는 전 세계가 바이러스에 관심을 갖게 했습니다. 바이러스는 생존을 위해서 기생할 숙주가 필요하고 숙주에 위해를 가하는 살아있는 유기체입니다. 어떤 경우엔 숙주도 모르게 바이러스가 몇 년간 잠복해 있을 수도 있습니다. 그 기간에 바이러스는 널리 퍼져서 알려지지 않은 피해를 줄 수도 있습니다. 바이러스를 숙주에서 분리하면, 활동을 중지하거나 죽게 됩니다. 바이러스와 마찬가지로 죄가 살아남기 위해서는 숙주가 있어야 합니다. 교만, 탐욕, 분노, 그리고 이기심과 같은 죄들은 그 자체로는 단어에 불과합니다. 그러나 죄가 숙주인 인간을 제압하고 나면 숙주가 살아있는 한, 그를 무너뜨리기 위해 활동을 계속합니다. 감사하게도, 예수님께서 십자가에서 산 제물로 돌아가심으로 말미암아 기독교인들은 “죄에게서 해방”(롬 6:18)이 된 지위를 갖게 되었습니다. 우리가 죄를 계속해서 범하더라도 우리 안에 계시는 성령님은 육체의 정욕, 곧 죄의 바이러스에 저항하도록 도와주십니다(갈 5:16). 요한사도는 “하나님께로서 난 자마다 죄를 짓지 아니하나니 이는 하나님의 씨가 그의 속에 거함이요 저도 범죄치 못하는 것은 하나님께로서 났음이라”(요일 3:9)라고 말합니다. 이제 우리가 성령님께 의지하며 살아간다면 언젠가는 “그 영광 앞에 흠이 없이 즐거움으로 서게 하실 자”들이 될 것입니다(유 24). 오늘 “죄 바이러스”로 감염된 세상 속으로 나아갈 당신에게 큰 위로가 되지 않습니까?     치유하시는 위대한 주께서 죄의 바이러스를 죽이며 고쳐주시네 그가 흘리신 속죄의 피로 우리를 완전하고 흠 없게 만드신다네 죄는 병이요 그리스도는 치유이다. 로마서 6:14-23 [14] 죄가 너희를 주장하지 못하리니 이는 너희가 법 아래에 있지 아니하고 은혜 아래에 있음이라 [15] 그런즉 어찌하리요 우리가 법 아래에 있지 아니하고 은혜 아래에 있으니 죄를 지으리요 그럴 수 없느니라 [16] 너희 자신을 종으로 내주어 누구에게 순종하든지 그 순종함을 받는 자의 종이 되는 줄을 너희가 알지 못하느냐 혹은 죄의 종으로 사망에 이르고 혹은 순종의 종으로 의에 이르느니라 [17] 하나님께 감사하리로다 너희가 본래 죄의 종이더니 너희에게 전하여 준 바 교훈의 본을 마음으로 순종하여 [18] 죄로부터 해방되어 의에게 종이 되었느니라 [19] 너희 육신이 연약하므로 내가 사람의 예대로 말하노니 전에 너희가 너희 지체를 부정과 불법에 내주어 불법에 이른 것 같이 이제는 너희 지체를 의에게 종으로 내주어 거룩함에 이르라 [20] 너희가 죄의 종이 되었을 때에는 의에 대하여 자유로웠느니라 [21] 너희가 그 때에 무슨 열매를 얻었느냐 이제는 너희가 그 일을 부끄러워하나니 이는 그 마지막이 사망임이라 [22] 그러나 이제는 너희가 죄로부터 해방되고 하나님께 종이 되어 거룩함에 이르는 열매를 맺었으니 그 마지막은 영생이라 [23] 죄의 삯은 사망이요 하나님의 은사는 그리스도 예수 우리 주 안에 있는 영생이니라
