Heart Hunger 굶주린 마음 [ John 6:32 - 6:40 ] - hymn 526 Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35 Riding along with my husband on some errands, I scrolled through emails on my phone and was surprised at an incoming advertisement for a local donut shop, a shop we had just passed on the right side of the street. Suddenly my stomach growled with hunger. I marveled at how technology allows vendors to woo us into their establishments. As I clicked off my email, I mused over God’s constant yearning to draw me closer. He always knows where I am and longs to influence my choices. I won- dered, Does my heart growl in desire for Him the way my stomach did over the idea of a donut? In John 6, following the miraculous feeding of the five thousand, the disci- ples eagerly ask Jesus to always give them “the bread that . . . gives life to the world” (VV . 33–34). Jesus responds in verse 35, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” How amazing that a relationship with Jesus can provide constant nourishment in our everyday lives! The donut shop’s advertisement targeted my body’s crav- ing, but God’s continuous knowledge of my heart’s condition invites me to recognize my ongoing need for Him and to receive the sustenance only He can provide. ELISA MORGAN [ 요한복음 6:32 - 6:40 ] - 찬송가 526 장 나는 생명의 떡이니 내게 오는 자는 결코 주리지 아니할 터이요 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 목마르지 아니하리라 요한복음 6:35 볼일이 있어서 남편과 함께 차를 타고 가면서 전화기로 이메일을 확인하고 있었는데 화면에 그 지역 도넛 가게 광고가 뜨는 것을 보고 깜짝 놀랐습니다. 그 가게는 우리가 막 지나친 도로 오른편에 있던 가게였기 때문입니다. 갑자기 배속에서 시장하다고 꼬르륵하는 소리가 났습니다. 사업하는 사람들이 신기술을 이용하여 고객을 끌어들이는 방법이 놀라웠습니다. 나는 이메일을 닫으면서 나를 더 가까이 부르시는 하나님의 변함없는 간절한 마음을 생각해보았습니다. 하나님은 내가 어디에 있는지 항상 아시고 내가 무엇을 선택할 때에도 도와주기를 원하십니다. 나에게 이런 질문이 생겼습니다. ‘도넛 생각에 배에서 소리가 난 것처럼 내 마음에서도 하나님에 갈급하여 그런 소리가 나는가?’ 요한복음 6장에서 5천 명을 먹이신 기적을 본 제자들은 예수님에게 “세상에 생명을 주는 그 빵”을 자기들에게 ‘항상’ 달라고 간청합니다(33-34절). 예수님은 35절에서 이렇게 대답하십니다. “나는 생명의 떡이니 내게 오는 자는 결코 주리지 아니할 터이요 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 목마르지 아니하리라.” 예수님과의 관계로 우리가 매일의 생활에서 끊임없이 양식을 공급받을 수 있다는 것이 얼마나 놀라운 일인지 모릅니다! 도넛 가게의 광고는 내 몸의 욕구를 겨냥해 보낸 것입니다. 그러나 하나님은 언제나 내 마음의 상태를 아시고, 나에게 하나님이 계속 필요하다는 사실을 깨닫게 하고 그분만이 주실 수 있는 양식을 얻게 하십니다.

Dear God, remind me of my need for Your daily bread of presence. Jesus alone offers the only bread that truly satisfies 32. Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33. For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." 34. "Sir," they said, "from now on give us this bread." 35. Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. 36. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37. All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." • 사랑하는 하나님, 하나님이 주시는 생명의 양식이 제게 매일 필요하다는 것을 일깨워주소서. 예수님만이 진정한 만족을 줄 수 있는 유일한 양식을 주신다. 32. 예수께서 이르시되 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 모세가 너희에게 하늘로부터 떡을 준 것이 아니라 내 아버지께서 너희에게 하늘로부터 참 떡을 주시나니 33. 하나님의 떡은 하늘에서 내려 세상에 생명을 주는 것이니라 34. 그들이 이르되 주여 이 떡을 항상 우리에게 주소서 35. 예수께서 이르시되 나는 생명의 떡이니 내게 오는 자는 결코 주리지 아니할 터이요 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 목마르지 아니하리라 36. 그러나 내가 너희에게 이르기를 너희는 나를 보고도 믿지 아니하는도다 하였느니라 37. 아버지께서 내게 주시는 자는 다 내게로 올 것이요 내게 오는 자는 내가 결코 내쫓지 아니하리라 38. 내가 하늘에서 내려온 것은 내 뜻을 행하려 함이 아니요 나를 보내신 이의 뜻을 행하려 함이니라 39. 나를 보내신 이의 뜻은 내게 주신 자 중에 내가 하나도 잃어버리지 아니하고 마지막 날에 다시 살리는 이것이니라 40. 내 아버지의 뜻은 아들을 보고 믿는 자마다 영생을 얻는 이것이니 마지막 날에 내가 이를 다시 살리리라 하시니라
